MANHATTAN — With just over a week left to register to vote in the Nov. 9 presidential elections, New Yorkers have one less excuse not to sign up.

LinkNYC kiosks throughout Manhattan have been modified to encourage users to register to vote, with the tablet homepages now linking directly to the Department of Motor Vehicleselectronic voter registration page.

The registration cut-off for New York is Oct. 14, 25 days before the election, so anyone looking to cast a ballot in November have just eight days to register. Those hoping to register should have their New York State driver’s license, permit, or non-driver ID handy.

All other forms of web browsing remain disabled on LinkNYC tablets after CityBridge, the firm that operates them, switched it off due to complaints of people watching porn on the sidewalk and hogging the kiosks for hours.
